Breakfast was a nice surprise, with chocolate chip muffins, cereal, bagels, waffles, fresh coffee, and two juice choices. The property was peaceful, and I didn't see any sketchy people or bad neighbors around. My room was clean and comfortable, the bed and pillows were great, and the bathroom seemed recently redone with a bigger-than-usual tub. Nothing felt broken or run-down. I was there to hike in Grayson Highlands and didn't want to pay for a pricier chain for a short trip, so I took a chance on Econo Lodge. Check-in was especially kind: the desk gentleman noticed I'd accidentally booked a smoking room and checked that I meant to, then moved me to a room with a larger bed at no extra charge, even though I hadn't asked. The area was quiet, with several local restaurants nearby, including pizza and sub places within walking distance. A real hidden gem. I'd absolutely recommend it.

There was some highway noise, but it never got to be too much. The room itself was modern and spotless, with comfortable beds and clean, upgraded appliances. It was a really quiet, restful stay, and my pets were welcome. If you're traveling with dogs, there's a grassy patch right outside the door.

The staff and the owner/manager have all been really nice and helpful. We're staying here week to week for a semi-long-term stretch, and the room has been very clean and quiet. Being able to bring our dog for a small fee is a big plus. Good value for the price.

The only letdown was the room assignment. I asked for somewhere quiet with a nice view, but got a room at the back facing the freeway, where the traffic could be heard, and the view was the other hotel beyond the fence. The hotel seemed nearly empty, so a front room should have been easy to arrange. Next time I'll ask for one in front. Otherwise, I had a pleasant stay. The room was very nice for the price, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and DirectTV gave me plenty to watch. Breakfast had a waffle maker, which I always enjoy. The location felt convenient and safe.

Restaurants and a Dollar General are close enough to walk to. The place is clean and quiet, and works well as a base camp for hiking or biking in the lower Virginia Appalachian Mountains.
