Hilton Garden Inn Hartford South/Glastonbury

I was there for one business night. Check-in was quick, the digital key worked, and checking out through the app was easy. There’s plenty of free parking, and the staff were friendly and courteous. My room was ready when I arrived, clean, and everything worked. The bathroom was stocked, the heat was good, and there was lots of hot water with strong pressure. Dinner at the hotel bar was great, with top-notch service. Breakfast was just okay, especially the buffet eggs. They also have a weight room, a pool, and meeting rooms.

The room was a little dated, but very clean and more than enough for us and our dog. We were heading south for the winter and wanted a dog-friendly hotel with a restaurant on site near the highway. This place fit what we needed and had good reviews. The restaurant area was crowded when we arrived, I think because a group was there, but it was nice to see it busy. My husband brought dinner up: he had a burger and I had the chicken Cobb salad, and both were very good. It’s also in a good neighborhood, with restaurants and shops within walking distance, which was especially nice after arriving online-booked and in the dark. We’ll definitely stay again.

The room was okay, though I would have liked a smart TV, and there wasn’t a welcome packet. It felt a bit dated. Someone had left a jar of mayonnaise in the fridge, and the weed smell in the hallway made me nauseous.

I can’t say enough good things about the Front Desk staff. I left something valuable behind after my one-night stay, and when I called the next day, they went out of their way to get it back to me. I called several times, and each person I spoke with was even nicer than the last. The rooms were clean too, and the location was convenient.
