Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale

The rooms and location are still the main things this property has going for it, but I really miss the rooftop lounge. It gave the stay its own rhythm, somewhere to relax after exploring, have a drink and cigar, and watch the city lights. The downstairs bar is handy, but it doesn't have that same feel. Closing the rooftop took away a feature that brought regulars back, and the hotel feels different without it. I hope they bring that space back or offer something with a similar atmosphere.

The location works, but the hotel itself needs serious renovation. The bathroom felt old and not very clean, and the sink drain was nearly clogged. Showers were slow, with much weaker flow in the morning when more guests were using them. The elevators were painfully slow too, with waits of up to 20 minutes in the morning. The rooms, elevators, and parking don't meet the standard of a good hotel. Hampton Inn is cleaner than this. I wouldn't recommend it.

We had a nice stay, though we were mostly here for a wedding and didn't spend much time at the hotel. The pool was clean, with loungers and umbrellas, and the kids spent hours playing with the balls provided. The room was well equipped and had a good view, and the bathroom was very nice, though the beds felt a little small. The entrance and foyer were pleasant, and the location is good, about 20 minutes from Universal Studios and near the heart of Glendale. Breakfast had a good range: eggs, bacon, hash browns, made-to-order omelets, cold meats, several kinds of milk, bread, four juices, and coffee. The restaurant was nice. I didn't use the gym, but it looked well stocked.

Parking caught me off guard because it wasn't included in the reservation. It would be better if it were part of the rate, or at least offered as an option during booking. The hotel is well maintained, though its age is starting to show. The restaurant is excellent and the waitstaff are fantastic, but it's pricey, with a mandatory 20% gratuity on every purchase. I don't mind tipping, just be aware it's already added.
