Super 8 by Wyndham Gloucester

The rooms were dirty, the bedding had big holes, and the toilets barely flushed. The shower curtain wouldn't stay put, so water covered the floor, the internet was terrible, the TV worked poorly, and the refrigerator door was hard to open. There weren't even cups for brushing your teeth. Outside, I saw needles in the lawn, the place smelled strongly of skunk marijuana, and homeless people slept in the halls at night because the doors weren't locked. Management was very rude. We stayed five nights, and after checkout my fiancée was only 10 minutes late picking me up, but they rudely kicked me out of the room. Prices changed every day, and when I wanted to cancel after the first night, I couldn't get a refund. If you only care about a cheap bed and don't mind the conditions, this place may fit your needs, but the Super 8 chain should be ashamed. For the same nightly cost, go the extra miles to the holiday inn express in carneys point. Stay away from here.

Room service never came to clean unless someone specifically told them to, so I cleaned what I could and tidied up a little myself. The short change of scenery was nice, and I appreciated the "acts of kindness," but I wasn't comfortable with the male "community partner" who came with us. He was controlling and possessive, wouldn't let people talk or interact with me, and refused to respect my need for absolutely no smoking in the room because of my many medical conditions. It felt as though he treated me like a child, and his behavior gave me the impression he might have other motives or a scary obsession with women. I don't really enjoy these offers from community members, since they often seem to expect something in return. I have the right to express my feelings and beliefs freely, and I won't accept being put in an uncomfortable situation where I can't do as I please or have to accept whatever I'm given, for fear of retaliation or other community members opposing my personal or public beliefs.

For the price, I'd recommend it. It seemed recently renovated and was decent, with a good night's sleep and no complaints from me. You're not getting a five star hotel, but it's no roach motel either.

The receptionist was very rude when I called at 11 am on Saturday the 15th to say I wanted to check out and had already left the room. They said nothing could be done and refused a refund. The hotel also fell short on basic safety and cleanliness. On top of that, the refrigerator made an irritating noise and the heating was so loud I couldn't rest. In short, I felt blatantly robbed.
