Harborview Inn

John made us feel very welcome and had great suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. He knows a lot about local history, which made breakfast conversations especially enjoyable. The inn is only a few minutes from downtown Gloucester, so getting around was easy. We enjoyed the clean, charming rooms and the refreshing breakfast.

The outdoor spaces were peaceful and cozy, with a magnificent view of the water. Inside, our room looked just as beautiful as it did in the listing, and the whole place felt like home. John was friendly and gave us a wonderful history of Gloucester. It reminded me of the cleanliness and friendliness I remember from my younger years, like going back 50 years. After whale watching and a lovely dinner, Harborview Inn was just right. We’ll stay here every time we visit Gloucester.

Each room has its own bathroom and a cozy coastal feel, with lovely decor. Harborview Inn is family-owned and sits across from the harbor, which is described as America’s oldest and most scenic working waterfront. When I came through the front door, Skipper, the cutest assistant innkeeper, greeted me, and I was welcomed into the great room. A complimentary continental breakfast is included with the stay. It’s a place to keep in mind for a Massachusetts staycation, visiting friends or family, or a change of scenery while working from home. They also have a new remote work package.

Our room looked straight over the Harbor, and the sunrises were exceptional. The inn is beautifully kept and sits in a picturesque New England seaside spot. There’s a small beach about a minute’s walk away, and downtown Gloucester is an easy walk too. John was a gracious, thoughtful host who was there for anything we needed. We had an incredible stay at Harborview Inn, and I’d absolutely pick it over the larger hotels. John will take great care of you.
