The kids had a great time fishing from the dock, pulling in 11 bluegill in an hour, and the pool was clean and fun for them too. We grabbed carryout from the restaurant and ate on the deck by the pool, which was awesome. The food was good, a little pricey, but convenient. Staff were kind and went out of their way to help us at the restaurant and pool. We stayed in cabin #26, with a great lake view, and were impressed by how clean and updated it was. The park itself is peaceful, with beautiful lake views. We only had one night, so there was plenty we didn't get to do, and we hope to return soon. One thing to know: the walk from the lodge down to the lake is long for little kids. Ask about the accessible route if you have a stroller or wheelchair, since the exits we used had stairs. The top bunk mattresses are quite tall, so they're really only suitable for older kids.

The location and views were very nice, and the staff were pleasant. The outside renovation had just been completed. There are plenty of things for adults to do, though not as much for kids. The nature center felt bland, with very little to see or interact with. The lodge's main course was good, but the sides were bland, and the meal was kind of pricey. I was also bothered by the repeated “Beauty fee” and “beautification fee” charges. I hadn't realized enjoying the view would cost a few extra bucks. It was an okay stay, but those fees put a damper on the trip.

The main lounge was a peaceful spot with fantastic lake views, and there was lots of seating throughout. Our room was spacious, the staff were friendly, and there were plenty of things to do. The lodge has a nice rustic feel when you walk in, and the pool looked good too. The room heated up quickly, so we had to open the window a crack to keep the temperature comfortable. The beds were quite firm, the pillows were okay, and the bathroom felt a bit cramped. Dining room service was pretty good, though the food could have been better. On our second night and the next morning, the lodge had little to no water pressure for long stretches, which was inconvenient. Even so, we'd stay again for the views, roomy accommodations, and friendly staff.

There was no hot water in either the bathtub or shower during our weekend stay. We told the front desk, but nothing was done. The rooms were mostly clean, and our breakfast waiter was very friendly, though breakfast was overpriced. This place has gone downhill. The front desk staff need replacing, and we won't be back for a while, if ever.

Those lobbies are awesome, with lots of cool places to sit, read, and look at nature. I came by myself for some hiking and downtime, arriving Tuesday and leaving Thursday, and it didn't disappoint. On Wednesday I had a nice hike on Buckeye Trail, which was very well marked. The food was okay, though I was a little disappointed by my dinner salad because the lettuce was brown and old. Still, it was a good stay.
