The caretakers were so friendly and accommodating, and suggested places to eat and attractions to see. This little motel in Golconda is tucked into a quiet neighborhood on a hill, away from the main road. It can be hard to find the entrance if you don’t know where you’re going, so look for the blue light. I’d come back if I’m in the area again. Thanks for the kindness and hospitality.

Fran was great. We were arriving early in the morning, and she had the room unlocked and ready for us. It was spotless and smelled clean, and the price was very affordable. The location is perfect for the hog rock motorcycle rally. We headed home around midnight, and Fran was still up to wish us a safe trip. Best manager we’ve ever met.

July 30, 2022 Getting a room at the last minute was great, and the location worked well. But the bushes and weeds were so overgrown that even reaching the door was disappointing. There were lots of dead bugs in the room, and the kitchen and bedroom smelled musty. There weren’t any utensils at all, just one small saucepan and a little coffee pot. The beds were comfortable.

It was quiet, comfortable, and a good value, with clean beds and great cooking appliances. I noticed a faint cigarette smell, and there was a food crumb on the floor, so I’m not sure it had been vacuumed very well. I’d stay there again.

Unity Lodge was a great choice for our weekend trip to Shawnee National Forest during the pandemic. It’s spacious, fresh, and super clean. The photos don’t show just how much room there is, and we even got upgraded. It’s affordable, too, with the supermarket, restaurants, and marina only a five-minute drive away. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.
