Gold Beach Inn

The rooms are basic, clean, and white, with amazing views. It’s quiet, affordable, and reliable, which is why we keep returning. We’ve stayed on both the hotel side and the rustic lodge side. We found this cute inn three years ago, a few hours from home, and fell in love with Gold Beach. Now we come about three times a year for birthdays and special trips. Too bad about the hot tubs, though honestly it’d be freezing out there anyway! Ha! If you stay, check out Groundlings Pizza and Gold Beach BBQ. They’re excellent.

The room was clean enough for one night, and the beach is conveniently close. But our two-queen room with a kitchen looked nothing like the photos on the website. I’m curious where those pictures came from, maybe AI? Don’t expect an updated room like the ones shown. There was a big gap under the door, enough that someone outside could see in if they wanted, which I didn’t like. At the desk, the staff member almost wouldn’t accept my credit card because my last name didn’t match the reservation after I’d recently married. I had my old ID, luckily. I understand the policy, but I wonder what would’ve happened without it. We were also told the hot tubs had been permanently shut down, even though the website still lists them as an amenity. Without the beach location, I’m not sure I’d stay again.

The cabin was comfortable and spacious for our family of six, with three beds, two bathrooms, a mini fridge, and microwave. There was no kitchen. It’s old but in decent shape. Rain fell all night, and I could hear water dripping somewhere inside. Breakfast was basic, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt, muffins, though the hot coffee was appreciated. We were really disappointed about the hot tubs. I’d asked specifically when booking and was repeatedly told they were working and fantastic. At check-in, the desk woman said they’d been shut down months ago. My family had been looking forward to them by the beach, and we got a 20% discount. There seemed to be hardly anyone else staying there. Of the three staff members I met, one was friendly and two weren’t. The reservation call center woman was very nice, but she gave false information to sell the booking. We might consider staying again if there’s nothing else available.

The property seems to be several small places, maybe four or five, now brought together as the Gold Beach Inn. Our unit was older but in decent shape, and it was a nice pet-friendly room with a small kitchenette. The ocean is very close, with access at a few spots on the property. There’s a cute path from our room to the office, where breakfast is served. We’d definitely stay again.
