Boyden House Inn B&B

If you’re into historic character and warm hospitality, The Boyden House is a lovely choice. Shelly was so welcoming and accommodating, and breakfast was delicious. She even had freshly baked cookies for guests, which gave the stay a personal feel. It’s a charming, well-preserved historic inn with classic architecture and those little floorboard squeaks. The spaces can be smaller than in modern hotels, but the cozy vintage atmosphere makes up for it. Great for history lovers, and highly recommended.

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay over the 4th of July. Shelly made us feel so welcome, with delicious breakfasts, great conversation, and a warm atmosphere. The room was surprisingly modern and beautifully updated, much nicer than the pictures show. Everything in town was within walking distance. Thanks, Shelly!

We LOVED staying here during the 4th of July week. The location was excellent and so walkable, and the breakfasts were great too. Shelly is an incredible hostess, fun and easygoing, and she struck just the right balance between being available and helpful without getting in your business.

The outdoor porches were lovely for breakfast and for unwinding at night, and the gardens were beautifully kept. We spotted urban deer, ducks, and lots of birds. Parking on the property was easy, and downtown and the waterfront were a pleasant walk away. Innkeeper Shelly was friendly, served a wonderful breakfast, and gave us tips about Grand Haven. The Grand Haven musical fountain is a must-see, with plenty of nice restaurants and stores in town, plus great beaches and lots of sand. In Room 4, the Sun room, the recent remodel brought a gorgeous tiled bathroom and shower, a comfy new mattress, and very nice hardwood floors. I’d have rated the room a 5 if the two sitting chairs were replaced, which the innkeeper said would happen. I’d also suggest adding a suitcase rack. We’d recommend staying at the Boyden House!
