The Gateway Inn

The rooms are nice, but the service needs a lot of work. On our first night, nobody greeted us at dinner. We waited ages for the food, and when it finally came out it was cold. We were sitting at the bar and still had to ask for refills. Next time, hopefully we find a friendlier inn or hotel.

After a long day ice fishing, Gateway Inn was the cozy mountain base I wanted. The lobby and bar were great, and being able to grab a few cold beers right after a day out on the ice was so convenient. Live music gave the evening a nice energy. Everyone we met was genuinely friendly and welcoming. Our room had been nicely remodeled and felt clean, modern, and comfortable, a step up from the average mountain lodge. We didn't eat dinner there, but it was good to have a solid food option on-site in case we didn't want to head back into the cold. The room temperature kept shifting from warm to cold to hot overnight, even though we didn't touch the thermostat. A bit of a mystery, but not a dealbreaker. Parking takes patience and some creativity, and the lot was icy during our stay, so watch your step while unloading gear. Even with those quirks, we had a great experience. It's a cozy, friendly spot for anglers or anyone in Grand Lake, and I'll be back.

The hotel is right at the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, and after just five minutes in the park I saw my first moose. Back at the hotel, Tracy was really accommodating, and Alejandro and Jason were amazing too. The staff was on point, and we were even invited to the town Christmas party downstairs. Our room was adorable and felt like a remote cabin away from the city's bustle. The beds were very comfortable, and the spacious shower had plenty of hot water. What an amazing location. I highly recommend this quaint hotel with its family feel.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The view was amazing, the place felt cozy, and the staff were super friendly. Thanks so much, we'll definitely be back!
