The new manager is very nice and responsive, so hopefully he can improve the place with support from district and upper management. As it stands, I wouldn't recommend staying here, especially with other hotels in the same price range within walking distance. My first room already had someone in it, the next had bed bugs, and the last option was a handicapped room because nothing else was available. The hotel feels rundown and needs major renovation. Breakfast was poor, and the elevator stopped working several times. The second elevator is permanently closed, leaving only the stairs in a six-story building. The female assistant night manager also had a bad attitude. Not a good experience for a Hyatt brand.

The check-in itself went smoothly, though the employee didn't seem very enthusiastic. We were exhausted and stayed anyway, but the airport area has plenty of other chains, even if they're all overpriced. This was the worst Hyatt Place I've stayed at. It badly needs a remodel, looked unclean inside and out, and the hallway carpet was filthy and smelled. Our room needed plenty of TLC and had no microwave. The refrigerator was barely big enough for the few things we brought. We were meant to have an accessible room with an accessible shower, but the low-threshold tub's shower seat seemed broken or removed, leaving a portable bench we didn't trust. At least there were plenty of grab bars. The toilet flushed but wouldn't refill, so my husband had to take the tank lid off and work the mechanism. The bed was too high and uncomfortable. Breakfast was free and average. I'm sticking with Hilton or Holiday Inn Express from now on.

I expected a modern, top hotel after reading the reviews on delta stats, but this place was nothing like that. The rooms feel old and heavily used, with cobwebs on the walls and ceilings and chips everywhere. The worn interior looked disgusting, and the bathroom ceiling was peeling. It wasn't cheap, either. If I could have canceled without an extra charge, I would have. One of the worst places I've stayed in a long time.

The room's cabinetry, carpet, and furniture are worn from age, so I can only give it three stars. Still, it was extremely clean and comfortable. The standout was Gage at the front desk. We live in Tyler and stayed overnight before flying to Italy. The coffee in the pump thermos was THE worst, so I told Gage that the sign saying they “proudly serve Starbucks here” felt like false advertising. He just smiled and offered to get me Starbucks coffee from the bar. It was fabulous, and his genuine happiness at making my day better mattered just as much as the coffee. I've spent 45 years in the Hotel/Resort/Hospitality industry, and this kind of service is practically non existent now. Hyatt Place should help Gage move up the ranks if that's what he wants, and perhaps into upper management someday. Thanks, Gage, for a great bit of hospitality.

My niece stayed here over Thanksgiving to shop on Black Friday. The room was comfortable and the location made it easy to get around. Breakfast was also great and well kept. The other common areas could have been neater, though, and didn't have the same quality as the rooms. She was disappointed by a front desk employee who was unhelpful and at times came across as almost rude.
