Heritage Inn

Shawn at the front desk was kind and really funny, and I was happy to find actual cotton sheets. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower had good pressure and hot water, and the heating and air conditioning worked great. My room was super quiet. It also had a small coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave. Across the street there's a park and a river trail for running or biking. Ask the front desk how to find the right trail. There's another one along the highway and river, and that's not the one to take. The scenic one turned my stopover into a little vacation. The pool was closed in November, which made sense. I'm glad I drove through town and stayed here. The place across the street cost a lot more, and this one was great. I'll stay here again on my way home.

I've been here for work several times over the past three weeks, and I spend more time here than at home. The staff are great, and I'd give the place five stars for its location, but there's been no internet for all three weeks. You can connect to the Wi-Fi, but it has no internet access. I've complained and been ignored. Did Heritage Inn not pay its bill? I know I'm not the only one dealing with this. The IT guy seems not to consider that guests may have driven four hours or more to get here or have to work in the morning. Given what we pay and how often we stay, we deserve working internet. Maybe a bad review will get someone to fix this problem. In the single rooms, you also have no control over the heating or air conditioning. There's a thermostat on the wall, but that doesn't work either. Those issues bring my rating down to one star.

The location, price, and pool were the only positives. The rooms felt outdated and poorly maintained, with cleanliness problems in the tub and shower. The pillows were tiny and uncomfortable, and the property looked run down and in need of renovations. We stayed three nights without Wi-Fi. We reported it at the front desk but got no help. Housekeeping never serviced our room despite several requests. Later in the day, we were told they'd already left. We had only two towels for the whole stay, and were told there weren't any more when we asked. The restaurant was acceptable, but breakfast choices were limited. There was no milk during our stay, and we were told it would be restocked later that week. Overall, the stay didn't meet our expectations.

The hotel may have been lovely once, but now it feels really run down. Service was rude for the most part. Whenever we asked for towels or other basics, staff responded with an attitude. Lots of things were breaking, including the room fan, the carpets, and the keys, which never worked. A piece of the pool floor came loose and got stuck in my son's foot like a big plastic splinter because the floor on the steps is breaking. The one thing we loved was the layout, with balconies all around the pool and space for the kids to play soccer and floor hockey. Overall, pretty bad.
