I keep choosing this location when I visit Greensboro, and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was very clean, the staff were exceptionally kind, and the lobby works well, with separate areas for relaxing, socializing, or getting some work done. It's also near everything. Breakfast costs $17. The bed was medium firm, less plush than I'd hoped for, and there isn't a microwave in the room.

I felt safe here as a mom traveling alone with my child. We stayed one night for a concert at the coliseum, and the pool was just as advertised. They also have a handy feature that lets you text questions instead of calling. I'd recommend it.

I used to think of this as home when I was in Greensboro, and I've stayed here for a while. That's over now. It's an old, funky property that's been remodeled too many times, and it shows. The two elevators are in awkward places, and one often doesn't work, sometimes for weeks. I could live with all that. What I can't accept is being lied to. I often order DoorDash while working at my computer in the room, as I've done here many times. Tonight they stopped my Dasher and made him leave the food at the front desk for me to collect. When I asked when that had become an issue, the clerk said it was a security rule and that most hotels don't allow room deliveries. I stay in hotels constantly, probably more than that clerk, and of all the IHG hotels in the Carolinas, this is the ONKY ONE that's stopped a Dasher. I have Diamond Elite status, and this cost them my business. They can expect I'll still use DoorDash, though. After a manager tried to discredit my review, it has remained up so far. I've stayed at seven more IHG properties since then, and none prohibited food delivery to the room. One said they'd ask for the room number and verify it; the others allowed delivery without fuss. It's a shame the manager attacked my account instead of acknowledging the policy and apologizing for the overly-zealous employee. I'll have to take this to IHG with my documentation and prove the manager is a liar. The hotel is also just plain odd, with too few elevators in inconvenient spots. But the real issue is dishonesty from a vendor. They tried to BS me, and if they'll do that to a regular customer like me, they'll do it to you too. Think carefully before booking. It's my last night here. There are plenty of good properties in Greensboro, and this isn't one of them.

Check-in and checkout were smooth, the hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly. I was on the second floor and parked in the gated lot, so the layout meant a lot of extra walking between the stairs and elevators. I wish there had been luggage carts by the second elevator.

We drove eight hours for work and wanted to use the pool, but three different people told us to leave because it closed at 7:30pm, in the summer. We tried again Saturday after a full day of work and even spoke with the manager, who said, “Sorry sir, there is a lighting situation and it’s not safe to swim.” I took photos of the pool at midnight. It's lit so well the international space station could see it. This felt like staff simply didn't want to deal with guests using the facilities. Terrible service. Avoid this place; plenty of better hotels stay open until ten or later. The hotel's reply said county rules prevent night swimming because of the required exterior lighting. But North Carolina's rules say pools used at night need enough lighting to see the main drains and deck. I looked up 15a ncac 18a .2524, which also says lighting should cover the pool and water, depth markers, signs, entrances, restrooms, safety equipment, deck, and walkways. My original point stands: it sounds like they just don't want to deal with customers. They also said more than half the rooms face the pool and shouldn't be disturbed during night hours. But at 7:30pm in summer, the sun was still up. They call that night hours? Why have a pool at all? They might as well fill it with stand and station three employees around it to shush anyone who passes by. Every other hotel I've been to, including countless Holiday Inn's, keeps its pool open until 10pm, and often later if people keep the noise civil. If someone is loud or difficult, ask them to leave. A hard-working guest should be able to relax and use the hotel's facilities. That was covered in Hospitality 101, I'm sure. They said I could have picked a hotel that allowed night swimming. That would have been any other hotel but this one. Unfortunately the Greensboro Holiday in is run by draconian Kevin Raper, who needs to learn what hospitality means. This isn't a big ask. The Greensboro property is the only one of the hundreds I've visited that does this, which makes me think they simply don't want to put in the effort to provide a service. Maybe they miss the days of doing nothing and blaming covid. Sad.
