Tru by Hilton Greenville Woodruff Road

We liked our stay at the Tru in Greenville enough to return on the drive home. The lobby had lots of open space, and we played a couple of games of pool each evening before bed. Our room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast had a nice range of options for a free hotel meal. Most of the staff were personable and helpful, though a couple barely acknowledged us. Maybe the evening and day teams were different. We’ll come back next time we’re in the area.

We asked the property manager for a partial refund after several problems, but were turned down. I’ve been calling to speak with Rod since the manager’s reply, and he still hasn’t called back. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. During our four-night stay we got no room service, despite the stated every-other-day service. The shower leaked all over the floor each time, leaving the bathroom soaked. Breakfast was offered, but the pancake and drink machines were out of order, and there was hair in the warm food. The hotel also randomly lost all power. While it was out, someone was screaming on our floor. Once power returned, the phones didn’t work, so we couldn’t call the front desk to find out what happened or report the screaming. That felt like a serious safety issue. I have pictures to show why I’m telling people not to stay, though I can’t see where to add them.

I came to visit my Daughter and family over Labor Day, but couldn’t find a reasonably priced room near them. Then I spotted Tru right by their apartments. The rooms were extremely nice, the rates very reasonable, and the stay included breakfast. It’s pet friendly too. Awesome experience!

The rooms are a bit small, but ours was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were really nice. I liked the colorful, playful feel of the hotel. It was a welcome change from the stuffier places I’ve stayed. A very nice stay.
