The bathroom and closet were noticeably cramped, even for a suite, and the bedding and towels had stains. I also found no mattress protector. For a stay close to $1,000, the room felt more like a budget motel than a hotel with the Hyatt name. There's no laundry on site either, so guests have to pay for pricey dry cleaning or go to another property about 15 minutes away, which is inconvenient on a longer visit. The constant noise made it hard to rest. I heard guests in nearby rooms at night, then housekeeping started as early as 8 AM. For hours there were loud conversations in the halls, doors left open during cleaning, staff shouting to each other and personal phone calls loud enough to hear from inside rooms. That would be especially rough for people working nontraditional hours. I stayed nearly a week at Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center and was extremely disappointed. Management needs to address the noise and the overall guest experience; the current accommodations don't meet what I expected from a Hyatt.
Breakfast was the standout for us, fresh, delicious, and with lots of choices. We also had a lovely stay in a clean, modern, really spacious room, and the staff were friendly. The downside was paying $15 a night to park, especially at a hotel that isn't in a particularly prime spot.
Breakfast was great, and my back hurt badly, but what I remember most is the way Toby treated us at check-in. We arrived around 9-10 pm and waited 3-5 minutes. He came around the corner, saw us and another couple waiting for bar service, then went back behind the breakfast area. When he returned a minute or so later, there was no apology or greeting. He put out his hand and said, “ID and credit card for incidentals.” My sister tried to say we already had a reservation, but he just repeated it sternly, so we gave him her ID and card. He then said our two queen room was being downgraded, without an explanation or apology. When I reminded him we'd paid for two beds, he said, “that’s just how it goes.” I’m almost 40 and have worked in customer service for more than half my life; his behavior was atrocious. Management needs to look at the training, since he was the first person guests encountered. On my last morning, I woke up with a spider right by my face in the pullout bed. Yes, I have a picture. The bugs and back pain made it difficult to give much credit to the good parts. I won't stay again or recommend the hotel, and I'll post about this on Yelp, the booking website and Google. People should know not to expect much hospitality, especially if Toby is there. It was my first vacation in years, and I came away so disappointed. They need to retrain the front desk staff and do better with cleaning or bug spray.
Maria made extending our stay quick and easy, and she was very sweet about it. We'd originally booked just the night before our wedding, but liked the hotel so much that we added the rest of the weekend. On Monday morning, we slept past breakfast. Zuzana noticed and asked if we were looking for food. When we said we were, she brought back some of the food that had been put away. The service was fantastic throughout our wedding weekend. When we're in Denver, we'll choose this hotel again.
The evening bar turned into a fun gathering place for our team, and the spicy Margarita was a hit. In the mornings there was a full hot breakfast. My room was especially comfortable, clean and spacious, with a sofa, mini bar, writing desk and updated shower. It worked perfectly for a business trip, and it's definitely on my list for my next Denver visit.
