Motel 6 Groton, CT—Casinos Nearby

This motel made me feel uneasy, and I’ll never stay at a Motel 6 again. People were wandering around the property all night, as if it was renting to homeless people, and the room phone didn’t work. The room smelled, the furniture was trash, and the microwave and fridge were disgusting. I had to ask the front desk for a blow dryer, and the one they gave me looked like it had been pulled out of the wall. Spend more for somewhere decent to rest.

I stayed here twice while visiting family over two weeks, first for nine days and then overnight in another room. Both rooms were immaculately clean. I wiped the remote and every surface with one sanitizing wipe and it still came away perfectly clean. I was shocked, even a $700 hotel I’ve stayed in wasn’t this clean. It’s also one of the quietest hotels I’ve been to, despite being nearly full and allowing pets. I saw lots of dogs and didn’t hear one. The beds were comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful. The furniture and decor are dated, since this isn’t a five-star hotel, but everything is well maintained and worth the price. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m in town.

All night, someone was banging on the walls and I couldn’t sleep. Maybe the soundproofing is poor, maybe the neighbors were bad, or both. It was a cold night, and even with the heat turned all the way up, the room stayed cold. During the snowstorm, the plowing was poor too. Never again.

The location is convenient, but there’s no gym even though the website specifically lists one. Cleanliness wasn’t great either: little black flecks on the sheets gave me a possible bedbug scare, and there was a hair on the tub wall.
