What a beautiful rustic resort. The grounds are lovely, it’s dog-friendly, and it’s very close to town. The owner, Lynn, is fantastic. Thanks, Lynn, for a wonderful stay. Jeff Wong

The owners were very nice and helpful, and the grounds and room were clean. We stayed in the osprey suite, which had a kitchen, and that was handy. The pool was closed during our visit, but the hot tub was open. There’s also a ping pong table we really wanted to use, but it was too cold and rainy, even though the table is covered. One other thing, all the rooms are raised about 12 feet off the ground, so you’d be safe if the area floods.

We booked at the last minute and hadn’t looked at the place much, so we didn’t expect a lot. But the moment we opened the door, we were blown away. It’s very tranquil and peaceful, with everything we needed and a very short walk into town. The owner is super sweet. I just wish the shower head had more pressure.

The Treehouse felt more like a whole house than a room, with plenty of space and good amenities. There’s a pool, a hot tub that’s actually hot, and fire pits and BBQ grills. After staying here, I went ahead and booked a future visit.

Getting across the pedestrian bridge makes the beach an easy walk away. Check-in and checkout were easy, and this is one of the few family-friendly places in the area. Our stay was good, but we had some concerns. We were told that, because of fire department regulations and the amount of gear an infant needs, we had to book the "osprey's nest". They said a regular room would be suitable for children but not infants. It felt silly to us, since we manage all our baby’s things in a small room at home, but we went along with it. Some parents co-sleep, which also seemed to make that reasoning less convincing. The osprey's nest had a kitchen, living room, bathroom with a tub, a large bedroom with space for a travel crib, a small balcony overlooking the road, and a coin-operated laundry in the unit. We worried about being in the cabin right by the road. We were told it wasn’t a main road and was very quiet, but it turned out to be pretty noisy. Our baby liked watching the cars while awake, so that part was okay. What upset me most was that this is one of the few units without working AC. Guerneville got to about 100 that weekend. We thought we’d turned on the AC to cool the cabin during a quick outing, but returned to stifling heat. There’s a unit with a dial marked cool and heat, but it doesn’t work, and it was just blowing hot air in fan mode. We called hoping they’d repair it, but were told our unit didn’t have AC or that it didn’t work, and we should cool off at the pool. It was bedtime, our baby was cranky and clearly overheated, so the pool wasn’t a real option. We gave him cool baths and kept him in just a diaper instead. With the windows open overnight, we got the cabin to about 80 the next day, which was more comfortable, but not the weekend we’d pictured. If you’re coming here with an infant in summer, make sure you have AC. It was scary at times, and uncomfortable even for an adult. I hope the inn repairs the AC unit so the cabin is safer for an infant.
