Beach access is great, and the balcony has a great view. The elevator broke a few times while we were there, but thankfully we were on the second floor. The unit has clearly had some updates, though a few small things could still be improved. I also wish there were umbrellas for the pool chairs, since it was extremely hot out there.
We had everything we needed to cook in the kitchen, and the place was comfortable, just like home. Loved sitting on the balcony with my coffee and listening to the ocean.
I left Island Shores after discovering mold and mildew in the exhaust fans and air ducts. As a disabled veteran with lung problems, I couldn't risk staying there. Before that, the floors were dirty when we arrived, and opening the balcony door later let in a strong marijuana smell. We reported it, but by the time the call went through and security reached the back, the person smoking was gone. The desk said security had to catch them before anything could be done, which didn't address the mold at all. We moved to Phoenix Condos, which was far better in every way, but lost $1,500 because Island Shores refused a refund after we left. I'd avoid this place.
We love Island Shores 154. The condo was spotless, with fantastic beds and wonderful views. The location is hard to beat, with Sea N Suds just steps away for fresh seafood and a sunset drink. It's a well-kept complex and reasonably priced.
The room was a bit tight, and the bed left my back in terrible shape. Still, we had a nice beach view and easy access to a good stretch of Gulf Shores Beach. The building staff went out of their way to help us several times during our short weekend.
