Holiday Inn Gulfport Airport by IHG

The room was roomy and clean when I arrived, and the WiFi was reasonably fast. There’s a coffee machine, which was a nice bonus, and snacks are available in the first floor lobby. I didn’t try the paid breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. I’ve included some pictures to show what the room is like. It was a great stay and worth the price.

Sarah and India were wonderful, greeting us every time and making us feel welcome. The whole team, from the front desk to housekeeping, was A+++ and five-star. Our room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The pool area looked gorgeous, but the water was freezing and the pool looked dirty, so we stayed out. The hot tub jets were all broken and made it look like an erupting volcano; we only used it twice during our week. The paid buffet was also the same food we get at other Holiday Inns, where breakfast is included in the room price.

This place has become our home away from home after decades of visiting Gulfport. We’ve stayed for work and vacations, and have also held high school and veterans reunions here, along with business and organization meetings. The staff and the facility are both outstanding. I strongly recommend it.

After meetings, I returned to GPT to sleep before my morning flight. My earlier flight had bumped me and sent me from MOB to GPT, while my rental car and hotel bookings were still at MOB. I couldn’t check into the Holiday Inn because of my own mistake. Mary at the front desk understood the rules, but while she was checking in booked guests, she quietly looked for other local hotels that might help me. I hadn’t asked her to. I was trying to work out how to cross the 10-lane highway and find somewhere safe to sleep outdoors for 6-8 hours, then worried about crossing the super busy 25-lane highway/street while staying clear-headed enough to stay alive. I eventually figured something out, but Mary’s kindness, empathy, and humility kept me from sobbing loudly in the lobby. The facility was clean, and the rooms were modern, clean, and inviting. Mary, don’t forget to sign me up for the Rewards plan!
