Red Roof Inn Gulfport - Biloxi Airport

It was a last-minute stay, but there won't be another. The room smelled humid, there were dead bugs, and the walls were dirty, cracked, and marked with rust stains. The doors looked like they'd been broken into. The refrigerator wasn't cold, and the microwave was rusty and smelled of rust. The sheets had cigarette burns, and the beds had mold.

I've never had a worse hotel experience. The room looked nothing like the pictures and didn't have the advertised amenities. At 4 pm, no one was at the front desk, and we waited 43 minutes to check in. While waiting, I tried to use the restrooms, but they were out of order with signs on them. The rooms we were given had water leaking from the AC onto the floor and no seal around the door. Paint was coming off the tub, which cut my foot, and the handle came off in my hand. The sheets weren't clean. When I asked for towels, I was told to bring the old ones in for an exchange, but there was no one at the desk. That didn't surprise me. They advertised continental breakfast, but it seemed to be whatever food was left in storage. After ordering food, the waitress forgot our takeout silverware. I asked the hotel for some, since they have silverware, but they said they couldn't get into the kitchen until the next day, as if it were time-locked. It had rained a little, but the whole parking lot flooded nearly to our ankles when we tried to leave. There were no handles on any of the bathroom doors either. It felt like a death trap. Never again.

Don't stay here. We needed a night near IH10 and Auto Zone because our car's AC was acting up and we needed Auto Zone the next morning. Cruisin The Coast was on, and this was the only hotel we could find available. We went through three rooms. The AC didn't work in the first two; one was missing a panel and the other had missing buttons. The front desk worker blamed the humidity for the AC not working. Did the humidity make the panels and buttons disappear too? The rooms weren't clean, either. The third room wasn't reassuring. A spider was in the tub, and the desk, microwave, nightstand, and dresser were sticky. The toilet tank didn't fit properly, the beds had stains, and the rooms smelled bad enough that I bought a Febreeze plug-in. The doors didn't lock properly, the deadbolt was broken, and the doors between rooms didn't lock, so we put heavy desks in front of them. I asked for a refund before being sent to the third room and was told no. This place doesn't meet Red Roof standards. I emailed corporate too.

I arrived 40 minutes after check-in on a holiday weekend, 600 miles from home, and found that the property had oversold the room I'd reserved weeks earlier as guaranteed. They made no effort to find a solution, and the front desk showed little concern for a stranded traveler. In my opinion, there are better nearby options that will honor a guaranteed booking. It seemed to me that they may have sold my reservation to avoid sharing the room revenue with booking.com. I often stay with Red Roof because they're dog friendly, but after this, I won't. A disappointing customer service experience at this Red Roof Gulfport location. I wish I could leave no stars, since I had no room.
