Hampton Inn Hadley-Amherst Area

I expected a lot more from this location as a Hilton Honors member. The people in the room next to us left their dog barking all night. I understand it's a pet friendly place, but we called several times to complain, and the young woman didn't seem to care or offer to move us. The parking lot was nearly empty, so I assume the hotel wasn't full. At 130am we finally heard their door slam as they came back from wherever they'd gone, and then the dog stopped. That wasn't the only thing that kept us up. Our climate unit made an awful, loud sound every time it switched on, like someone drumming on the outside of it for a minute. It was a cold night, so we had to hear that over and over. We got no rest, went home early, and were exhausted.

We had planned to stay here a second time, but I injured my knee in the catskills the night before and we went home. We canceled after their deadline, and they charged us $375.00 even though we never used the room. We've stayed in hundreds of hotels over nearly 40 years of marriage and have never had this happen. In my opinion, charging us anyway was a very short sighted decision. There are plenty of other hotels in the area.

The room was really nice and clean, and coffee is always available in the lobby. The free hotel breakfast wasn't bad either. Service is quite limited, since most things are digital. The one problem was the carpet. It always seemed a bit damp, and whatever they used to clean it made my feet itch.

The room was clean, the king bed was comfy, and there was a pullout sofa. They'd left some bags in the room for graduation, with water and candy, I think. Coffee was excellent, and they had the creamer I use at home. Breakfast was OK, though I arrived late, so it might have been better earlier. The potatoes were too spicy for me. It was college graduation weekend, and the one night cost was ridiculous, more than double, though luckily we had CC points. I hadn't realized it was pet friendly, and someone's dog was barking at 6:30am. Maybe pets should have an area away from the hotel.
