I've stayed here for years and look forward to breakfast, especially when Zac is taking care of things. Even when it was busy, he kept everything clean and stocked while helping guests on his own. Dawn greeted us very early in the morning with a friendly face and was understanding and welcoming. The room was clean and spacious, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom had plenty of towels, with extra rolls under the sink. The gym and pool are nice, and the housekeepers were friendly and quickly brought extra toilet paper and soap. Best hotel in hagerstown, I highly recommend this fairfield if you're looking for a place to stay.

The pool is small but nice, with one end 3 1/2 feet deep and the other 4 feet. There's also a good exercise room and plenty of parking. Restaurants take a 5-10 minute drive, since auto dealerships are about the only things nearby. The hotel is in a quiet spot near I-70. We booked a one-bedroom room on Jan 2, 2026, and check-in was friendly and efficient. But it isn't really a one-bedroom, since there's no door separating the sleeping area from the rest of the large room. The room was quiet enough for a full night's sleep, although other doors could be heard banging in the morning. It had a faint stale cigarette smell, and the HVAC was slow to respond when we changed the temperature. Housekeeping hadn't checked the shower's body wash bottle, which was empty when I got in, though luckily I had my own. My 8-year-old granddaughter found a stink bug crawling near the pull-out sofa and crushed it with her water bottle. Stink bugs find ways into buildings to stay warm, so I can't blame the hotel. We appreciated that pets aren't allowed, so there were no barking dogs. Breakfast was okay, but we arrived 30 minutes after opening and some things, like yogurt, were already gone. No staff were restocking. There was a waffle maker, but just one, which meant a 10-minute wait, and there were no instructions for using it.

The manager made sure my laptop got back to me safely after I accidentally left it in my room. The rooms are clean, the breakfast offers lots of choices, and the staff go out of their way to make guests' stays excellent.

Getting here from I-70 via state 40 takes some attention: you need to make a U-turn, with about a mile to move from the right lane all the way over to the left. Google Maps gave excellent directions. I stayed four days and found the front desk attendant could be hard to locate in the late morning or middle of the day, but once found, they were attentive right away. I always like a Fairfield Inn for its breakfast, clean rooms, and reasonable rates.

The room was clean and the hotel looked new, but our arrival was awkward. On 3/6/26, the night desk person took a long time to buzz me in after I rang twice. She said people were sleeping on the first floor and the bell might disturb them. We had a reservation, so I expected someone to be ready for us, and it was strange to have a locked lobby door and a bell if ringing it was a problem. We skipped breakfast. The next morning, as an employee walked out of the lobby, she lit a cigarette. Staff shouldn't smoke right by the doors, especially before getting outside. People don't want to leave the hotel covered in smoke. This could be a great place for travelers, but ownership or management should coach employees on guest treatment and acceptable behavior.
