We feel really lucky to be part of this community. Everyone, from the office staff to maintenance to our neighbors, has made us feel welcome and cared for. When our sink needed attention, Adam was at the door an hour later and fixed it. The maintenance team is unbelievably efficient and caring. Sam and Libby made our move here from out of state much less chaotic. They asked the right questions during the tours and helped us find a unit that suited us. They've been easy to reach with questions or concerns, and even keep dog treats at their desks for visitors. We've been here about a month and are beyond happy. It feels like resort-style living, just as Sam and Libby described. We love the clubhouse, pristine gym, pool that never feels crowded, dog park on site, basketball court, and BBQ area. Since we work from home, the quiet matters a lot. The buildings have a Jenga-style structure, so we rarely hear the neighbors.

I've lived here for 4 years and enjoy it as a single 62-year-old man. Colonie Town Park is nearby, along with convenient walking and bike trails. My packages often get left at the front door, and in my experience there aren't porch pirates around. The streets and parking lots are well lit. It's a nice, quiet, safe place to live, and I'd recommend it. The management team works hard to be professional, though I think they're understaffed sometimes. The apartments are pricey, but rents are high everywhere right now.

Four months after moving in, the window is still leaking brown water into the apartment. They've added a gutter, a shroud, and lots of caulk, but the leak hasn't been fixed. It stained our bed, and I have to keep our cat away from the water. Each time I reopened the ticket, maintenance took down the blinds, put caulk or expanding foam in the hole, then marked the work order complete without checking with me. The vendor was delayed until April because of the weather, with a requirement for three straight clear days. In Albany, NY, snow is always going to be on the ground. The dryer still wasn't working properly after I moved in. I reported that its booster fan was dead, but the worker just shook the hose and left. I was left running the dryer five times or going to the laundromat. The lack of airflow also sent water from the dryer pipes into the garage, so I ran a dehumidifier to keep my belongings from getting moldy in the heat and moisture. The bathroom floor had water damage from the previous tenant, and ants were crawling around. I used my own spray because I wanted to be sure the problem was dealt with, not just signed off. There was confusion about parking from the start, even though they said it was a misunderstanding. Sometimes there weren't any spots available, because snow was plowed into open spaces instead of the banks, leading people with assigned spots to use other spaces. The rent is decent, and that's about the only positive so far. The property manager has been unhelpful and argumentative. I've spoken with her only once, and it didn't help much. Her leasing agent was more professional and helpful. The head of maintenance is a nice guy once you talk with him. Maintenance arrives quickly and the workers are kind, but the problems haven't been getting fixed. Be ready to handle things yourself, and hopefully you won't need the property manager. I held off on reviewing, but this has become frustrating. I hope they make real changes. Two stars for the price. Update: The head of maintenance spoke with me, and we resolved a lot of the miscommunication. We talked through the snow issue and his point of view, and came to an understanding. The dryer repair is underway; I'll test it and update the review once I know whether it's resolved. The window issue is finally moving forward with both the vendor and maintenance involved. They plan to try a repair before replacing it. He explained the repair briefly, and I hope it'll stop the leak.

There have been car thefts in the area, and when we brought it up, the complex didn't seem to care or try to make us feel safe. There are also never enough parking spots, and the appliances don't work. When we report problems, they act like they've fixed them, but the appliances still don't work. The maintenance workers are friendly, but the property managers are difficult to deal with and don't seem to care about residents. Shelter Cove has been a terrible place to live. There are plenty of other apartments nearby that cost less and probably aren't such a pain to deal with. Don't move here.
