I fell for the house we stayed in. It was clean and had plenty of towels, and I especially loved the claw-foot tub. My niece was in the separate building with the bunk beds. The staff were the friendliest I’ve ever seen, and we’re already planning to come back.

Shelly greeted us with such enthusiasm and was a charming, interesting person to talk with. Since we had to leave early for a long ride, we couldn’t make the big buffet breakfast, but she let us use the lodge kitchen. Coffee and tea, bagels, yogurt, fruit, cereal, and other things made for a nice breakfast, and we really appreciated her hospitality. We were there on 8/31 during a three-week bicycle trip, and this was the best place we stayed on the whole trip. The upstairs room was cozy and decorated in a one-of-a-kind way. The lodge itself is rustic, gorgeous, and full of interesting things to look at. We could lock our bikes to the porch railing, and there was a spot to charge my ebike. Everything in the little town of Halfway is an easy walk from the lodge. It would be a great spot for a weekend, and if my wife and I are ever back in the area, we’ll stay here.

Halfway is a tiny town with plenty of old western charm, and the property has that same character. It’s made up of several old houses turned into hotel rooms. Ours had a front porch and lawn along Main Street, and the whole place was really cute. The breakfast was wonderful too. It’s in the devils canyon area.

A nice restaurant across the street serves lunch and dinner, and the hotel does a homemade breakfast. The place itself is cozy and has a lot of character, with everything rustic, handmade, or repurposed, but done well. A welcome change from a generic Hampton or Best Western. I’d definitely stay again if I had the chance.
