Motel 6 Hammond, IN - Chicago Area

My daughter and I lasted two nights. It was an itchy nightmare. Roaches kept coming out of the woodwork both nights, including little baby ones. When I told the man at the front desk, he ignored me without an apology or offering to move us, as if it were normal. A woman later said she could switch our room, but her response was basically that you get what you pay for. That’s crazy, because it makes it sound like the hotel thinks this level of dirt is acceptable. My child is poor, and I couldn’t keep her in a place like that. I checked out at 8 AM, when it was around -6 outside, because I couldn’t stay in that room anymore.

For the price, it’s not a bad hotel, and my room was very, very clean. The beds were made, and I have no complaints about the place overall. The only issues were a slightly loose toilet and a phone in the room that didn’t work, but those weren’t big things. One of the best Hotel Sixes I’ve stayed at in a while.

The room was roomy and clean, and it’s been quiet here so far. Mine just didn’t come with a mini fridge or microwave.

If you’re driving a hotshot rig with a trailer, there’s parking for it here. My room, 253, had a sizable gap in the door jamb that let cold air in, and a bright light shines right outside the door. The TV also mutes cursing on every channel and show for some reason.
