Atlantic Motel

The room gets a 3 from me. The TV and kitchenette were okay, but the bathroom door was hard to close and water got everywhere even with the curtain shut. That felt dangerous with young kids. There was mold on the ceiling from water damage, and the fixtures had a strange texture, like dirt that had never been washed off. The pool gets a 0. The water was extremely cloudy and the pool clearly wasn’t being maintained. I don’t think anyone should swim in it. It should be tested. The photos also make it look much bigger than it is. The area smelled awful, and parking was inconvenient with young children. Rooms without balconies faced a neighbor’s home behind the motel. We booked to go to the beach across the street, but ended up going to Rye beach instead, which was a much better area. The boardwalk is old and dated, and the neighborhood feels like it peaked in the early 2000s and needs TLC. The location gets a 2.5, since it is close to the boardwalk and beach. When it rains, water leaks throughout the motel, dripping from the ceiling in the pool and common areas. There’s mold on the exterior walls, and the leaks make the smell worse. I’d return to NH, but stay inland and drive to Rye beach next time. Overall, 3.

For almost $400 a night, I expected a lot better. The bathroom was nasty, with mold and mildew everywhere, and there was trash and food on the floor around the bed. The bed was terribly uncomfortable. When I lifted the sheets, I found bed bugs. I complained to staff and was told there were no other rooms and they’d take my complaint under advisement. Then he went back to his phone. I pointed out several empty rooms I could see and was ignored. As I left, I heard other guests complaining about bugs too. The place is filthy. The location is the only good thing. My wife had a broken foot, and I was promised a first-floor room, but we got stuck on the third floor with no elevator.

We’ve stayed here several times, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. The hotel is updated, beautiful, and clean, with lovely views of Hampton Beach. The rooms are nice, and the beds are comfortable.

We picked Hampton Beach after my wife did a lot of research before our first visit, and this turned out to be a good choice. Our room, #310, was cozy and had a small fridge and microwave. It wasn’t large, but the location made up for that. It’s close to the beach and an easy walk to points of interest on the boardwalk, while being quieter than places farther south. There’s on-site parking, and the property is smoke-free and kid-friendly. At night it got fairly quiet, and the other guests were respectful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
