Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Hampton, VA

The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the lobby was beautiful. Check-in and checkout were easy, the price was fair, and my deposit came back promptly. We swam morning and night since the pool stayed open, and even had pizza delivered there. The location is handy for fast food, takeout, and gas stations. I really enjoyed my stay.

After a six-hour drive for Hampton university's open house with my daughter, we found the first room extremely dirty. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned, food was still on the floor, and there were stains and dirt everywhere. The toilet was horrible. I called right away to move rooms and was told there was just one more available. The desk person said that if we didn't like it, he couldn't help further. The second room was dirty too. The carpet was stained, the microwave and fridge were damaged, and the bed was broken. I requested a refund through my booking party on Saturday and am still waiting. Don't stay here.

The hotel was clean, and the desk agent who welcomed us was accommodating. The beds were very hard, though, and I slept badly. After the shift changed, the new clerk was hateful and rude. My wife and I went to the pool an hour before it was supposed to close, during the posted hours, but the night clerk kicked us out. She said the hours could be changed whenever they wanted because the hotel was franchised. There was also too much chlorine in the pool. We stayed July 3 2017 and checked out July 4 2017.

Our room wasn't clean enough. The sheets had urine stains, the refrigerator and microwave were dirty, and the tub had grime and body hair. People shouldn't have to pay for a service that isn't worth the money. I think the owners could make this hotel better if they cared about the business as well as the money. Paying employees a decent, livable wage might help motivate them to do their jobs better.
