Six South St Hotel

The robes looked gorgeous, and the bathroom had plenty of counter space for makeup. The shower was a little odd, though the soap and conditioner came in full containers. Everything was clean, and I liked the sheets and TV. There’s a garage close by as well as valet parking. I didn’t get a chance to try the bar downstairs, but it seemed popular.

I’m not someone who likes leaving bad reviews, but I want to warn others about what happened during our one night on Thanksgiving. I was there with my daughter and our dogs. The hotel is listed as pet friendly, and Booking.com quoted me $215.92. At check-in, the staff handed me a paper to sign without explaining it until I asked. It was a pet fee of $125 plus tax, taking the total to $340.92. I hadn’t known about that charge. Then they asked to put $50 on my card for incidentals, even though we were there for just one night and checking out in the morning. Before leaving, I checked my card and saw pending charges for $150, $265.92, and $444.05. When I asked what they were, the front desk person said not to worry because they were only pending and would drop off. I asked why those charges had been put on my card, but got no answer. I also contacted General Manager Kathy Decker, who said she was looking into it. I’ll dispute the charges if they become actual charges, but I still want to know why they were put there in the first place. I wish I’d read the other negative Google reviews before booking. I’d tell people to stay somewhere else. They also charge $33 a night for parking. Shaking my head.

The staff are always so welcoming and friendly, and the rooms are really comfortable. SSS is a beautiful hotel. I’ve had a fantastic stay every time and am already looking forward to coming back.

We chose this hotel for a long weekend while we were in the area taking classes at King Arthur. It worked really well as a base for exploring. The rooms were comfortable, and the staff were wonderful. For Dartmouth, it’s close to Main Street but set back from it, so it stays pretty quiet. Nothing negative to report from our stay. I’d come back.
