Knights Inn Hardeeville

I don’t need a Ritz, but this was the worst place I’ve stayed. The rooms on American Horror Story Hotel looked cleaner. There was a dead cockroach under the bed and bedbugs, including one dead bug and what looked like eggs. I took and attached a few pictures. The mattresses were awful, the sheets stained, and it was dirty under the beds. The front door wouldn’t shut right, the bathroom door looked like it belonged in someone’s house, and the lampshades were cracked. The room smelled musty, too. The front desk agent seemed odd but was friendly. When I explained what I found, she apologized but didn’t seem surprised. They gave me a refund without arguing.

The room itself was clean, which was good, but it had no coffee and the fridge wasn’t plugged in. I know this is a no-frills hotel, though the whole place could use a refresh. At check-in, the people filling in for someone who was in the hospital didn’t know how to check me in. I understand they were covering, but it was still a problem.

The room smelled awful as soon as we walked in. There were holes in the sheets, the TV didn’t work, and the bathroom was filthy, with an uncleaned toilet and hair all over the floor and tub. The receptionist wasn’t very friendly, either. The room cost a lot for this kind of stay. It was more of a nightmare. Avoid all Knights inn and drive a little farther for somewhere better to rest.

The room had bugs, no shampoo, a phone that didn’t work, one bar of soap, and only two towels despite a four-person capacity. I’d asked for two extra pillows and never got them. We were also charged twice at check-in, and it still hasn’t been resolved. The supposed breakfast was a mess: no coffee had been made, we had to get the supplies ourselves, and the milk was curdled. The woman behind the counter was playing on her tablet. When a man yelled at her, she just said “Sorry” and went back to her game. The parking lot is badly eroded. There are only six fire extinguishers on the property despite boxes for more, and the ones that are there are in the stair corridors and were inspected last year. It feels like more money goes into the security system than looking after guests. It’s cheap and not far from Savannah, but I never expected this on my family’s first vacation. I’ll contact someone higher up. Please don’t stay here.
