Holiday Inn Hasbrouck Heights-Meadowlands by IHG

The burger at the hotel restaurant was excellent, and the beer happy hour special was a nice touch. The location was convenient too. What I’m most grateful for, though, is the help from Front Office Manager Ky. I’d driven three hours to New Jersey and then realized my wallet was at home. I had no cash, cards, or gas. I’d already called the Holiday Inn Express in the Meadowlands, explained my situation, and asked if they could let me stay while my wife mailed my wallet. I’m a Platinum member, but they said their procedures wouldn’t allow it. With almost no gas and nowhere else to turn, I stopped at this Holiday Inn to ask in person. Ky found a way for me to book a room, get gas, and feed myself by helping me set up Apple Pay on my phone. Problem solved. I can’t thank him enough.

The layout made getting around awkward, and the lifts were painfully slow. Of the three front doors, just one worked, and it was a long way from the only accessible part of the parking lot. There was urine in the stairwell, which raised real concerns about cleanliness. I had no hot water in the shower, and coffee was never available. My room had several outlets but only one worked, in an inconvenient spot. I couldn’t find anything redeeming about the stay. Save your money and pick another hotel.

It’s quiet despite being so close to the freeway, and the hotel is modern. My room was cleaned very well throughout several days, and the staff were friendly, especially the shuttle driver. The price was good too. For a trip into NYC, the bus stop is about a 20 minute walk away, or you can take the shuttle, though it only runs during certain hours and not on weekends for reasons I don’t know. It’s not the most walkable area, but driving to Costco, Walmart, and other businesses is easy. I’d stay again.

The staff at the front desk were really nice and helpful, and the stay was decent overall. I didn’t get breakfast because there was an extra charge. This is the first hotel in this IHG group where that was even an option. I’m not a fan, especially since I paid more than I have in a while.
