Coratel Inn & Suites by Jasper Hastings

It’s in a nice area right next to Vermillion Falls, which is perfect for a quick walk around town. The staff have been really helpful and accommodating with my requests. I’ve asked for a couple of things, and they’ve always been friendly when I call.

Tara was such a blessing, kind and courteous, and she really knew her stuff. I’d recommend this place to anyone passing through town. Hope you get to meet her too.

The room was clean and breakfast was affordable, and everything else was fine. But the front desk staff are a real problem. They’re never at their station and act rudely and disrespectfully. That’s why I’m giving only four stars.

The continental breakfast was just packaged cheap doughnuts, coffee, and juice, and I feel I rated this place too highly. I took a job at Prairie Island Nuclear plant for an outage that was supposed to run from September 8 to October 10, but I stayed on until October 28. Someone told me Hastings Inn had better rates, but it was full, so I chose Coratel, which cost considerably more, partly because I had a roommate. The distance to work was reasonable, and most conveniences were nearby. The room was okay, but not clean to my standards. I had to get my own clean towels and toilet paper, and ask for vacuuming after hearing the staff in the hall. The hot water went out sometime Saturday night and was still off early Sunday through Monday. I raised the issue and was told they’d try to get someone there quickly. On Monday morning, the service guy said they’d been called that day. I spoke with the owners and said I expected no charge for the days without hot water, and I wasn’t charged. We stayed in the same room, then had another hot water outage that lasted three hours before they installed another tank. Later, the CO2/fire alarm went off, so they moved us to another room. Things got worked out. That’s life on the road for work, but this hotel would be low on my list for a return.
