We paid $175 for a room, not the $75 Google suggests is realistic, and I should’ve gone with the Holiday Inn or an AirBNB. The room had food on the walls, and the AC/heater was extremely loud. Breakfast was gross: hard bread, charred bacon, and eggs that I think were eggs, maybe with Cheez Whiz. There was almost nowhere to order food for our team dinner during a winter hockey tournament. Not a huge deal, but yikes, not one place in Hayward delivers pizza? The staff was fine, and they couldn’t solve the food delivery issue, but that wasn’t their fault. It’s just the location.

I thought we were in the off season, but the room rate was almost what we paid in NYC. Maybe I’m a fussbudget, but for that price I expected more attention to detail. There were holes in the window curtain, unless those were somehow intentional, and breakfast was only okay. The coffee ran low, and the eggs were pre-made and pretty meh. The place itself was clean and fairly nice.

For $180 a night for a room with one queen bed, I expected a cleaner bathroom. There was plenty of the previous guest’s hair on the floor and underneath the toilet. The chair was very old, with worn, stained upholstery and exposed wood, and really needs replacing. The hotel itself is very old. It looks like it used to be another brand, and they remodeled some things, such as adding carpet and replacing some furniture, but not all of it.

The workers were kind and answered all our questions. We stayed in room 101, which had plenty of space and sleeping spots for my family, plus a sliding door that gave easy access to the pool. The bathroom was just okay. The toilet sat quite low, and the water pressure was so strong that it was hard to shower without splashing water everywhere. It was good for the money, though we probably won’t return.
