Comfort Inn & Suites Hazelwood - St. Louis

After a long drive, we arrived late and didn't make much of the problem at first. Room #302 reeked of cigarette smoke, so the helpful front desk attendant moved us to #305, where the odor was much lighter but still present. Both rooms had non-smoking signs on their plaques, yet both clearly smelled like people had smoked in them. We stayed one night and now have three nights at our destination, but I can still smell smoke on clothes we kept packed in the room. That's a pretty big bummer.

Two men in the next room partied loudly until 3 AM. I called the desk, and staff came to try to quiet them, but it didn't help. They stayed loud, then got even louder for a couple of hours after staff told them we'd complained. I had to put in headphones just to try to sleep. The room itself wasn't very clean either, and it wasn't what I expected after reading the positive reviews before booking. The staff weren't very helpful.

I wouldn't recommend this place. The whole building was dirty, and the room had mold in the bathroom when I arrived. I had reserved a non-smoking room but was put on a floor full of smoke. Staff weren't friendly, and the walls are so thin I could hear everything from the rooms around me. Sketchy guests were walking around all day, and the food area felt unsanitary, with utensils left out. Book somewhere else.

I was there for a week and had an awesome stay. The owners seem to have done a really good job with what looked like a recent renovation. Staff were very professional and took care of any needs I had. I'd gladly return for another stay.
