My wife and I stayed February 24-28 to celebrate our upcoming fifth wedding anniversary. As long-time Hyatt Globalists, we chose Grand Hyatt Deer Valley expecting thoughtful, premium service, but the visit fell well below our expectations and brand standards. We received no anniversary acknowledgment beyond the standard welcome amenity, which was disheartening for a milestone at a luxury hotel, especially since some other guests did receive special treatment. Our room also had obvious cleanliness problems: stains on the toilet seat, unwashed coffee cups, and dusty surfaces. That immediately made us question its sanitation. A simple pillow request was handled poorly, with no proper coordination or follow-up. For the first two days, we were told the Globalist Lounge was unavailable, and staff gave conflicting information about breakfast hours. When we could finally use it, the lounge was understaffed and unresponsive, with service and facilities far below what Globalists should expect at a Grand Hyatt. I use a wheelchair, and my wife was injured on this trip, so we asked about accessible shuttle options to avoid driving. Front desk staff repeatedly said they would follow up, but we had no information by checkout. Not following through on accessibility requests is particularly concerning. Checkout was the worst part. As we tried to raise these issues, staff presented two charges that were not ours and asked us to pay. We had to produce receipts on the spot to show the mistakes. That was unacceptable. We paid premium rates and instead faced repeated service failures, poor accountability, and disorganization. It took away from what should have been an important anniversary celebration. I hope management reviews this seriously, explains how these problems will be addressed, and responds promptly.

The pools and hot tubs were lovely, and the kids had a great time in the play rooms. The ski services and locker rooms were fantastic too. We found the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were outstanding. There’s heavy construction around the hotel as the area is being redeveloped, but it didn’t affect our stay much, especially with a room facing the reservoir. We’d seen some previous reviews that made us hesitate, but the hotel exceeded our expectations. I’d happily stay again.

We really enjoyed the food, especially the Hot Cocoa experience, which was so good. There are outdoor fire pits with lots of seating, and shuttle service to the ski resort and Park City. The amenities include a spa, fitness room, outdoor pool with three hot tubs, two shops, and both a sit-down and quick-grab restaurant. Close to Jordanelle Reservoir and Deer Valley ski resort, the hotel is modern, clean, and well kept, with spacious, comfortable rooms. The one frustrating part is that parking is valet-only right now, which is awkward with all the construction. I’m sure they’ll sort it out over time.

This was my second visit to Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, after staying during its opening year. I want to like it, but at $1,000 or more a night, it doesn’t feel worth the price. The hotel presents itself as a top ski-in/ski-out resort, yet it feels more like a corporate conference center near a mountain. Hidden Ace was the standout: great food and drinks, plus knowledgeable, friendly staff. Management should have that team train the people at Remington Hall and the Lounge. Housekeeping and turndown in our room were excellent. The valet was quick, and the front desk host was formal and helpful with advice. Outdoor hot tubs were great after skiing, though the pool should be warmer in winter. The Globalist benefits were essentially absent. The so-called Globalist Lounge was a windowless, soulless meeting room with dirty dishes and leftover snacks like you’d find at Costco. When we tried the restaurant instead, the hostess didn’t know the Globalist breakfast rules, so we had to risk being charged rather than go back to the meeting room. We got no early check-in and waited until 4 PM with nowhere to change. The app also denied late checkout. For a new hotel, the wear is shocking. In our suite, Room 2111, the fridge had a large chip exposing bare wood, and the bathtub diverter was broken, so a bath wasn’t possible. The shower swung between scalding and freezing. Outside the room, dirty dishes sat by the elevators for two days. I moved a napkin so staff would notice them. Breakfast service was overwhelmed, and it took 20 minutes to get the bill. Servers in the Lounge off Remington Hall didn’t know the menu or cocktail ingredients. The website and Google also show inconsistent menus, which shows poor attention to detail. East Village is a ghost town full of construction. Despite claims about advanced snowmaking, no snow guns were running and only one or two runs were open. Getting to proper skiing meant a tedious tram, lift, and gondola commute, so it doesn’t yet feel like true ski-in/ski-out. Construction noise surrounds the hotel around the clock, and the atmosphere lacks vacation-resort warmth. The area needs another three to four years to become a destination. Until the village develops and the hotel addresses its cold corporate feel and service problems, I can’t recommend staying here.

Even with the Christmas crowds, the front desk checked us in with real kindness and professionalism. The property and facilities were clean, organized, and thoughtfully maintained. Breakfast for Globalists was excellent and well worth it. My family and I had a relaxing, memorable holiday thanks to the hospitality and atmosphere. This is among the top 10 Hyatt properties I’ve stayed at, and I highly recommend it.
