Delta Hotels by Marriott Helena Colonial

We stayed in the King Suite and would gladly come back when we're in the area. The Colonial is a beautiful hotel, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and well equipped, with a sitting area, pull-out sofa bed, work desk, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker and smart TV. The king bedroom connects to the sitting area with just enough privacy. The beds were comfy with plenty of pillows. Best part was the bathroom: a huge jetted tub, double vanity and walk-in shower.

For a Marriot, this was a letdown. My partner and I are titanium elite members, and both the hot tub and bar were closed by 11 on a Saturday night. The room wasn't clean, and although they describe it as a tub and shower combo, it isn't. On the plus side, the hot water was great for long showers. There was no free hot breakfast, either. Bummer, missed opportunities.

The property itself is nice, and to be fair, they weren't adequately staffed. My kids were excited when we checked in because the entrance and lounge looked great. In our room, though, there was hair left by the previous guest or guests in the shower, and the shower curtain needed washing. The hot tub was disgusting. In the pool and around the pool area, there were several dead bugs and bandaids floating in the water and lying in the drain.

We had plenty of towels, and I loved the range of pillow choices. It was also great having a restaurant and bar on site after a day that had already lasted 14+ hours, so we didn't have to travel more. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I'd stay again. It wasn't luxury, but the prices weren't luxury either. Clean, safe, and economical.
