Summit Inn & Suites - Hempstead

We'd broken down on the highway and needed somewhere to stay. The family who owns the hotel was so sweet and helpful. A big relief was that all their cameras worked, since we had to leave our side-by-side in the parking lot and our belongings and valuables in the bed of our truck overnight. The shower was brand new and the water was just right. The beds were clean and comfortable.

A clean, peaceful place to crash.

I slept pretty well, though getting into the motel from the highway is a little difficult.

We were moved to another room the second night, and it was better, with a less intense smell. Still, the fridge barely worked and getting hot water was difficult. The sheets were stained and there were dead bugs in both rooms. In the first room, the lamps were coming off the wall, the bathroom had mold, and the shower curtain rod was broken. There was also an overwhelming odor that made both of us feel sick. Definitely don't recommend it.
