Red Roof Inn Rochester - Henrietta

We won’t be returning to Red Roof Inn Rochester - Henrietta. The room was never cleaned during our stay, and we only saw someone who seemed to be housekeeping once. It was visibly dirty, with stained bedding, bathroom stains, holes in the wall, and marks on the walls that looked like blood. When my husband asked the front desk for tissue, the employee told him to get it himself from what looked like a staff laundry room. That felt unprofessional and concerning. We know this is a budget hotel, but the property was poorly maintained and unsanitary, and basic cleanliness and service should still be expected.

I used to think this Red Roof was good before the pandemic, clean and all, so this weekend’s stay left me really disappointed. The sheets and carpet were dirty, and the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed. I killed a stink bug, then saw a red bed bug that looked full of blood after feeding while I was watching TV in bed. I couldn’t sleep after that. I’m still waiting for my deposit. I live nearby and will come back if it hasn’t arrived in a week, though honestly I think I should get a full refund.

The internet was painfully slow, I got locked out because the door jammed, and there weren’t any towels in the room. Red Roof used to mean a clean, no-frills room at a reasonable price wherever you went. Now it reminds me of Spirit Airlines. I’d sleep in my car before booking Red Roof again, just like I’d walk out of hell before flying Spirit Airlines. So long, Ref Roof. We had a good run.

The desk clerk was polite, but I only booked here because it was close to the airport, and I won’t stay again. The people next door were hollering and talking loudly, so I couldn’t sleep at all. My room was dirty, the bed looked slept in, and it was very uncomfortable. The metal frame sounded broken when I sat on it. I eventually found the TV remote battery on the floor under the AC/heat unit. There was also an outlet sticking out of the wall beside the bed, with wires showing, and I took a picture. I found a cockroach on the bathroom wall. Given the room’s condition, I feel a refund would be the right thing, though I’m not counting on it.
