Chestnut Grove Resort

A charming little place, and the new owners are lovely. They’re clearly putting in the effort to make it more comfortable, though it could use some new furniture. It’s dated, but clean, with a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, and air conditioning that worked well.

It’s a friendly place, with a decent range of activities for children and some adult entertainment in the carriage house. The food was standard. The staff makes it clear this is an old-fashioned Poconos retreat, and the property doesn’t seem interested in keeping up with the times. It takes pride in the past, but after staying once, I could tell it wasn’t my cup of tea.

This feels like a family summer camp, with plenty of time to do your own thing alongside planned activities for kids and adults. There are two hearty meals a day, and the staff is attentive. We liked it enough to plan a week here next year after only three days. Just lovely.

Friends and family can really bond here. We moved our annual fishing trip to The Grove a few years ago, after Daniel's closed. Jerry and Angel have been working hard to update the property, and you can see the difference paying off. J's earlier review already says it all about the conditions.
