Econo Lodge Hermitage South

Reading the reviews before booking left me concerned about reports of roaches, bed bugs, and guests partying or visibly intoxicated during hours when people should be sleeping. An unclean room and no management control over guests ignoring the rules also raise serious safety concerns for me. Even the initial phone call put me off: the person answered as though it were his personal cell. This won't be a place my family chooses to stay. All red flags.

My family's Thanksgiving was ruined by how this reservation was handled. I booked through Expedia with payment due at the property, so my card was only meant to hold the room. The desk clerk tried to charge it, couldn't, then told me he'd canceled my reservation and given the room to someone who wanted one. I'd arrived an hour before check-in, and had made a reservation. I was furious then, and I'm still upset about the inconvenience, unprofessional behavior, and money-hungry attitude. The owners reply to every unhappy review with the same apology, but it doesn't seem like anything has changed for past guests. I hope they resolve these problems. If they don't, this needs to go further than another routine apology.

Bob, the site manager, is kind and helpful at any hour, and he's understanding when life throws unexpected problems your way. The facility is clean, and when I had a complaint they were quick to help. I also met Nate, who fixes things right away. Both are very friendly.

The stairs were really slippery and need salt more often, and more thoroughly. An elevator could also make things easier since there seems to be room for one. Just a couple suggestions.
