Phyllis at the front desk was warm, polite, and professional, and made check-in pleasant. The one hiccup was that my late checkout request hadn’t reached housekeeping, so they knocked just before 11 a.m. The housekeeping manager apologized, and it seemed like a simple communication mistake. I found the hotel quiet for the price, with a convenient location near Memphis and Graceland and a Walmart across the street. It felt like a worthwhile short drive instead of staying in Memphis, where I’d read about cleanliness problems. Home2 Suites by Hilton in Hernando, Mississippi, only opened in November 2025, so I question some of the negative reviews I saw beforehand. My own stay was very different: everything was immaculate, fresh, and well kept. The room was thoughtfully laid out and well equipped, including a kitchenette with plates, mugs, utensils, dish soap, and a sponge. The bathroom was nice, and the small ensuite sitting area with a sofa bed made the room feel more spacious. The sofa bed was a bit firm, which seems expected in a brand new hotel and may soften over time, but the main bed was comfortable and the room relaxing. I usually stay at Hilton properties, and this one met my expectations. I’d recommend it to people visiting the Memphis area who want a newer, cleaner option nearby.

Breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. I let my sisters have the queen beds and took the sofa bed myself. After a long road trip from Chicago, I managed maybe three hours of sleep. I’ve never sat on a sofa so hard in any hotel, and the mattress that pulled out was just as hard. It was the most uncomfortable sleep I’ve had. Still, it’s a very nice hotel overall.

The elevator made a loud crunching sound and seemed like it might fall apart and hit the floor, so we took the stairs. There was at least no bedbugs or roaches yet, but we did find other people’s hair on the bathroom floor and shower items. The room and shower were decent sized, but the beds were hard and the pillows flat. Breakfast was old orange juice, yogurt and toppings, and waffle mix. When I told the attendant, she added water to the mix instead of bringing fresh batter. This isn’t a five-star hotel, and at $16 it still wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t stay again.

The room was clean, and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. But the sofa was hard as a rock, and the beds were hard too, though not quite as bad. The clock didn’t work, live TV options were very limited, and there was no live news. Wi-Fi was only available after joining Hilton Club. I won’t stay again because of the beds.

The front desk team were the one bright spot. They were friendly, professional, and genuinely tried to help. The rest of the stay was frustrating. Housekeeping did a poor job: the room wasn’t cleaned properly, trash was left, and basic supplies weren’t replenished, which isn’t acceptable for the price. Communication across the hotel was also difficult because many staff members didn’t speak clear English. I spoke with the manager, Marybell, hoping to sort things out, but she was rude and dismissive and it made matters worse. There also seemed to be underage children working at the hotel, which concerns me and should be looked into. The front desk did well, but housekeeping, management’s attitude, communication, and staffing need serious improvement.
