The response from management is appreciated, but what happened to my family went beyond “difficulties” involving my service dog. There were multiple ADA violations, false accusations, and discriminatory actions, documented on video and shared with Best Western Corporate. The matter has already been sent to the appropriate corporate and federal channels for review. I’m adding this so other families are aware and can be protected from similar treatment. My family’s stay at this Best Western was extremely upsetting because of how staff treated Tommie, my ADA-protected service dog. We followed the ADA guidelines, yet faced unnecessary questions and resistance that made an already stressful travel day harder for me, my husband, and our four children. I travel cross-country with them and a trained service animal, and depend on hotels to follow federal law and treat guests with dignity. That didn’t happen here. I’ve filed a formal ADA complaint. Best Western’s corporate office acknowledged it and opened a case for review, which I appreciate. Still, this should never have happened at the property. I hope management trains staff on ADA compliance and disability etiquette so another family doesn’t go through this.

With the hotel under construction, the lobby and hallways were a mess. Our room had a broken TV, a phone with no dial tone, and a light that flickered all night. The fitness center was closed, and there was no breakfast, despite it being advertised.

The hotel is really nice, and the room layout worked well for my wife and me. We enjoyed our stay a lot. The bedding, though, felt awful, kind of plasticky and just gross. The pillows kept slipping out from under us and wouldn’t stay under our heads. The mattress was okay in terms of firmness, but I woke up at 2 a.m. and considered waking my wife so we could hit the road because I couldn’t sleep well.

We were glad the pool was indoors because a cold wind was blowing, and it was great. All the rooms are suites, which was a nice surprise. The women at the front desk were friendly, efficient, and helpful. A west-facing room may get some truck noise from the 15 frwy, so a sunrise-facing room should be quieter for light sleepers. The mattress felt firm at first, but out of the six different beds we slept on during this trip, this one was the best.

This was a horrible stay, and I’m not coming back. My church comes to Hesperia for a retreat this time of year, and I wanted to try a different hotel. The service and housekeeping at “best western” made for a really bad experience, so I’ll return to my old hotel chain. My family deserves better.
