Days Inn & Suites Hickory

After a long drive, the walking and biking trail nearby was a welcome bonus. The room was a lovely surprise, much prettier than the average place I expected, and it was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The location worked perfectly, and the staff made us feel welcome. The front desk woman was especially wonderful, though I wish I’d asked her name. We had a great stay, and I highly recommend this place.

The room was spacious and had everything I needed, and the hot tub was a nice surprise. It was a smoking room, though, which made it rough. For what it cost, I was happy with what we got. I’d recommend it and will come back.

My pet-friendly room clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly between guests. There were nose marks from pets on the windows and dirt in every corner. I found a plastic cup cover and a bar of soap under the bathroom sink, and the shower curtain had a hole in it. The hotel itself needs better upkeep. They burn incense in the lobby at night, which makes me wonder if they’re trying to cover up odors.

The owner was extremely rude. I stayed almost a month for surgery, and he suddenly refused to take my husband’s credit card by phone and changed the room rate for the last four days. My family came for a funeral and said their rooms were infested with roaches. The inn is pretty, but he kept saying, “give me $100 and I bring your room key.” Knowing I can’t walk without help, he seemed unfamiliar with proper innkeeping. It’s too bad, because Hickory is known for its friendly people.
