Sleep Inn Hickory South

Jennifer at the front desk was kind and compassionate, and looked after me while I waited for a ride out of town. I booked through Super.com and had a lovely weekend at this well-kept hotel. I’d recommend it to fellow nature lovers. I went hiking in Valdese to see waterfalls.

The hotel was clean and nice, but I had the most uncomfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. It was old and worn, with broken springs, and the memory foam topper they put over it only made things worse. When I mentioned it, the front desk attendant apologized but didn’t offer a solution. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We were passing through and needed somewhere to sleep. The room was clean enough and the bed was fine, and breakfast was okay too, with powdered eggs, questionable meat, and waffles. Nothing was great or awful; it was just about what I’d expect for the price. When we arrived, an employee (?) seemed angry about something involving his rental car. There were two cops in the lobby and two police cars in the parking lot with their lights on, which didn’t feel reassuring. The hotel isn’t in a walkable area, so expect to drive wherever you’re going unless Hooters is your destination.

Jennifer G was a big help when I left some belongings in the lobby. She checked the camera footage and called to let me know. That was really kind, and all the staff were friendly. The breakfast was delicious.
