Days Inn by Wyndham Hicksville Long Island

The staff were pleasant, and check-in and check-out were quick. I also got my deposit back promptly. But the room was unclean and a long way from reception, in a corner of the property. There were extensive spider webs, and I took pictures of them and of what looked like forced entry on the door. The webs made it seem like the room may have been locked up or left uncleaned for a long time. I got a good deal on Booking.com, and wonder if that’s why I was put there. It’s also possible I was assigned that undesirable room because they assumed an Indian guest would accept it.

The location was good, and the rooms were reasonably clean, but I wouldn’t come back. This looked like a 1950's-era motel, very old and run-down, and the pictures in the ads were misleading. The furniture was old, though the bathroom was a little more modern and functional. There were loud conversations and doors banging at a neighboring room during the night. It also seemed like some people were renting rooms long term, judging by the people hanging around. Never again.

The bed and pillows were comfortable. For a business trip, though, the room wasn’t very convenient. There were no USB ports or TV remote, and the mini fridge was so noisy I had to unplug it.

David, the assistant general manager, was really nice and helpful. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. I’d seen the reviews, but found the place very nice. The rooms were clean and quiet, all the electronics worked, and the Wi-Fi was perfect. It’s easy to get to, with a sushi restaurant right next door. It was easy to stay here with kids, and my daughter says it deserves five stars. “Oh and the cereal was great and yummy!”
