A short walk gets you into the middle of town, with all the restaurants and shops, and you can also use the Old Edwards Inn, which is a sister property. 200 Main has a cozy mountain feel, lovely amenities like the fire pits, heated bathroom floors and hot tub, and really friendly staff. Such a hidden gem in Highlands. Book it, 10/10!

The location made this birthday trip easy: 200 Main Hotel is a few blocks from Old Edwards Inn and right by downtown Highlands, so shops, restaurants and bars are all walkable. I visited in November 2024 on my own with my goldendoodle, Libby, and the staff had a dog bed, bowls and a treat ready for her. The hotel is dog-friendly, and that thoughtful welcome stood out. The room was quiet, cozy and nicely updated, with plush linens, thick towels and high-end bath products. It’s an older building, but has been renovated to a luxury standard. Some rooms have balconies or fireplaces overlooking downtown. There’s trail access to the Highlands-Cashiers Conservancy network just steps away, too. It’s part of the Old Edwards Hospitality Group, and guests can access the resort amenities and get the same warm Southern hospitality at a more budget-friendly price, in a relaxed setting. From the people to the comfort, it was a top-notch stay. I’d gladly return and recommend 200 Main to anyone coming to Highlands.

Melany and the rest of the staff were so sweet, and they even gave me a birthday card. My husband and I were really happy we chose 200 main for my birthday trip, and we hope to stay again next time we're in highlands. We loved our second-floor room and the view from the balcony. The room itself was gorgeous, with a king bed and a fireplace that was easy to turn on and off, perfect for slow mornings and evenings. The bathroom and shower were huge and so nice. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We’d heard other people recommend a second-floor room, and we'd pass along that tip too. I'd give the place 10 stars if I could!

We usually choose Park on Main, but decided to try 200 Main this time, and it was a mistake. Before writing this, I asked the front desk for help, but they couldn't offer a workable solution. We had our two young kids with us and were put on the second floor, with no elevator. My husband had to carry the stroller up and down the stairs every time we went out. Our toddler fell and hit his head on the stairs, which were even more slippery with snow on the ground. The floor in our room was dirty, too. I asked if we could move to a first-floor room. The only option offered was one next to a dog, which wouldn't work while our small children were sleeping. Meanwhile, the man in front of me in line was given a free upgrade. It felt like assistance was being given selectively.

The rooms are consistently clean, and the staff are super friendly. My wife and son both loved the pool and game room. We'll stay here again when we're back in Highlands.
