Highlander Mountain House

Dinner at the Ruffed Grouse Tavern won us over. Samantha was a terrific server, knowledgeable and attentive, with just the right pace. The cocktails were outstanding, and the seasonal, creative menu felt right for the area. Everything we ordered was distinct and delicious, so we booked another dinner for the following night to try more. Elisa, the manager, was present, personable and clearly cared about the guest experience. Even after just our first night, we could tell this was a special stay at Highlander Mountain House. The staff were welcoming, responsive and attentive from the drive up to Highlands through check-in. They made us feel like regulars rather than first-time guests. Everything so far has been seamless and memorable. Five out of five, and we're looking forward to the rest of our stay.

A lovely, comfortable place with a warm, relaxed feel. The homemade banana bread and morning coffee were a favorite, and such a thoughtful touch. Everyone was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived through the rest of our stay. We enjoyed every minute and would happily return. I'd recommend this cozy local hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming place to stay.

Snow shut many Highlands shops and restaurants for the weekend, so we wandered the picturesque streets and then came back to Highlander to warm up by the fire and have drinks at the bar. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and many stayed at the hotel over the weekend to help make guests' visits better. Sam, our attentive and personable waitress, was a highlight. We had a delicious meal at The Ruffed Grouse Tavern, too. We'd never been to Highlands and timed our first visit with a big snowstorm. The front desk was a huge help booking a Main House Deluxe King Room, and they welcomed us and got us settled in a beautiful room. It was just the right size, with a balcony over Main Street and a very nice bathroom. Highlander Mountain House made for the perfect romantic weekend, with a great restaurant, lovely rooms and the cozy cabin getaway feel we wanted. We'll definitely be back soon.

A fabulous Mother’s Day brunch at The Ruffed Grouse Tavern. The food is always great, but the warm, friendly atmosphere the team creates is just as good. They make you feel special whether you're celebrating or just dropping in. So glad Danielle is back for the summer, she's the best. Sam is like a bottle of sunshine, and Bobby's got a real touch with cocktails. We live nearby and haven't stayed at the hotel, but I'm sure it would be unforgettable. A must when you're visiting Highlands.
