The rooms are very basic, which might be fine for a one-night stay, but ours had flies and other bugs crawling on the walls. It left my family wondering whether the rooms are actually clean and whether we could feel comfortable there at all. Near Mount Rushmore, they should at least keep the place clean and comfortable, even if it’s only meant to be a basic place to sleep.

The location was probably the best thing about this aging, just-passable hotel. We stayed in five rooms, and most were passably clean, but they smelled pretty bad. The A/C and vents seemed to be the main source of the damp, stale odor, so I’d strongly suggest bringing air freshener. Staff were accommodating. With a bit more planning, you could probably find something better for $160 a night.

We’d stay here again. The location worked perfectly for everything we did, and the free continental breakfast kept three adults and two boys full until dinner. We especially loved the pancakes. Rooms were clean, with daily cleaning and fresh towels and soap.

For what it costs, I expected a basic stay, but this was below that. The hotel is very outdated, our room smelled strongly of mold, and hot water was limited. The breakfast room was dirty, with flies buzzing around. The bed was rock hard and uncomfortable. A Super 8 may not be especially comfortable, but I wouldn’t come back here.

The room was nice for the price, and the location was good. The bed was comfortable, though it needed more blankets. I’ll ask for extra bedding next time, and I’d stay here again.
