The AC worked, amazingly, and the door locked. Almost nothing else was acceptable. The light switches did nothing, the TV was broken, and the toilet rocked. There weren’t any towels, soap, shampoo or even a trash can. The floor was coming apart in uneven patches that could trip you, and the mismatched sections were three different colors, stopping wherever they ran out of flooring. I didn’t see bugs, but you could tell they were there. It felt like a horror movie, so I renamed the place "The Rock Bottom Inn".

The people were nice and would bring whatever we asked for, but the room was dirty. Nobody cleaned it or changed the sheets and bed covers, so I bleached the whole room myself, including the bathroom and floors. I used to work as a housekeeper at a state park, so I know how clean or dirty things can be. Ours was probably the cleanest room in the motel after I finished. We had no cheap options nearby after Hurricane Helene, so we stayed. It was $265 for seven days, paid a week in advance with no refunds. I checked the Google reviews after we arrived and worried about bugs, so we bought bed bug mattress protectors before staying. Luckily our room had no bed bugs or roaches. I can’t speak for every room, but ours was bug-free. Someone living there told me all the rooms had supposedly been treated for bugs after complaints. The tub backed up when we showered, so I used a plug to stop the water and at least know what I was standing in. We had to ask for towels, and with four people staying almost four days, they gave us only two. We bought more towels and all our own supplies, including washcloths. If you don’t have time to clean the room yourself or buy what you need, I’d suggest somewhere else nearby. I don’t know their prices, but in Folkston the Western motel, I believe that was its name, charged $97 a night during the storm, with no discount for staying longer than one night. Last year, the same motel cost us $130 for two nights during the previous hurricane. Why is it so expensive now? Back to this place, it was bug-free but dirty. Your choice.

We’ve been here four months after hitting a rough financial patch, and I’d honestly rather sleep in a prison cell. The owners are rude, have no respect for privacy, and lie about money. They want payment in cash, which I personally think is because it can’t be traced. Meanwhile, they drive fancy cars and wear fancy clothes. The room is disgusting and never gets cleaned. It smells like cigarettes and urine, and there are poop stains all over the toilet seat and spiderwebs in the shower. The sink doesn’t work. Beside our bed we found two cigarette butts and someone else’s food trash. Don’t stay here. There’s a motel about ten minutes to the left of the parking lot called the Ship Inn. Go there instead.

We left rather than sleep in a room crawling with cockroaches. There were bugs, alive and dead, on the blinds and mattress, and the linens and furniture were stained. The first room was dirty and had no working AC, so they moved us to another one, but that room was no better. We were in town for a wedding and had no other place lined up. After turning in the key, we asked for a refund and were told we'd be charged because we'd been in the room more than 30 minutes. If you don't want cockroaches crawling on you while you sleep, find somewhere else.

The place is dated, which I could live with, so we booked a week. We had to change rooms first because the shower had no knobs to turn the water on or off. Then the roaches came out at night and it got so bad they were crawling on my drink can. I was not happy. I went to the office the next morning to ask for my money back. The man tried to charge me $100 for one night. I got upset and said a few things I probably shouldn't have, and they kept all my money. Please don't stay here.
