The reception staff were nice, and the breakfast had decent options. Everything was very clean and comfortable, but the room had some odd quirks. The heating and cooling unit looked dated, and there wasn't any other way to control the temperature. We set it to 66°, but by morning it felt like it was in the high 70s or low 80s, and it was noisy. The lighting was strange too, with no bedside switches, so I had to go around turning off each light. There wasn't an outlet on my side of the bed for my phone.

I won't choose this hotel next time I'm in the area. At check-in, the front desk staff were pleasant, but the person handling checkout seemed irritated when I approached while she was busy with paperwork. My room had several problems: the couch was badly stained, the bedspread had what looked like a blood stain, and there was hair on the toilet seat under the lid. The toilet paper also appeared to have a drop of pink liquid on it. The outlet by the bed didn't work, which I only noticed in the morning when my phone hadn't charged overnight.

We found it was cheaper on the weekend, and we'd go back. The food is good, and the place has the feel of an older hotel that's been kept up well. The rooms aren't the quietest, though. We could hear the people above us moving around a lot. It's a good option for the Hillsborough area if that's where you're headed.

We'd happily stay at Holiday Inn Express Portland West whenever we're back in Portland. The whole place was clean and organized, and the fitness room was a nice bonus. Our room was roomy and neat, with a mini fridge, and the shower had good pressure with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. Breakfast was included, and the machine made wonderfully soft pancakes. ❤️

Really good value for the money. The staff and service were great, and breakfast was warm with fresh coffee. I had an amazing stay.
