Brian and his wife were so attentive and made sure my boyfriend and I had everything we needed. Breakfast by the windows in the morning was lovely, and you can walk downtown if you want to. We stayed in king ocean front suite #3 and loved it. The 1922 house, now a bed and breakfast, is stunning, right on the bay. Hearing the waves all night was beautiful. They also had everything we might need to borrow for a day in Hawaii.

We needed to get out of a very different, appalling hotel nearby as soon as possible, so we booked here urgently. The staff member who handled the reservation accepted us very kindly and even gave us a generous upgrade to the oceanfront room. It's been more than a year and a half since we stayed, but I still think this is the best B & B in Hilo. Look no further.

The hosts were gracious, and the views were incredible. Each morning, the outstanding fruit plate and breakfast were just right for starting the day. It's a great base in Hilo for exploring the island's entire east side.

I only wish we'd stayed longer than one night. The ocean breeze and waves were wonderful, and our room was upgraded to an ocean view. Brian and Tomoni (sp) were so friendly. Brian knew loads about places to see and where to eat. They made lots of things available in the house at all hours: coffee, bottled water, games, books, snacks, beach towels, bug spray, binoculars, plus the fridge and ice. There’s also a pool. Tomoni's breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh fruit and coconut macadamia nut pancakes. This place was awesome.

The room was cute and spacious, with a comfortable bed. The hosts were really nice and helpful, and the breakfast was good. I would happily have eaten more of the Hawaiian fruit. The price was good too, and the location makes it a short drive to anywhere in Hilo. They provide everything you need. We had a hard time sleeping because the surf was strong and the waves hitting the ground by the house were very loud, even with earplugs. It didn't feel relaxing at all, though it can hardly be more oceanfront. There’s no AC, so you have to keep the windows open, and the humidity is high. AC would have made the room more comfortable and helped us sleep. The place is really nice otherwise, and AC would have made the experience feel perfect. I still recommend it for a Hilo visit if you're after a good breakfast, a good price, and a good location, as long as the surf and rain aren't keeping you awake.
